Welcome to our Winter 2018 Schedule!
The Greenwich Art Society Studio School, as the oldest (and only) visual arts program in Greenwich taught by professional artists, continues to offer traditional, foundational visual arts education.
As demonstrated by our adult students’ works, I have seen the following skills successfully and consistently developed:
• Excellence in learning the materials, techniques, and concepts behind the medium studied – painting, mixed media, drawing, and figure drawing
• Understanding of perceptual skills through the study of individual observation
• Understanding of creative thinking through experimentation within individual process
• Assimilation of current art trends and art history as a means of understanding individual vision
Along with co-director of the Studio School, Mary Newcomb, our children’s program offers innovative approaches in teaching children how to explore their creativity through the visual arts while learning important visual and motor skills currently lacking in general school programs.
In addition to our diverse program foundation program, we have started a series of Thursday night lectures in Professional Development for Artists as a way of broadening the scope of what we offer our member/artists as they continue to build their art careers. Stay tuned for more lectures in our Spring Term 2018.
See our 2018 Winter schedule on our classes page and call the office early at 203-629-1533 to be assured of a place in the course of your choice. Good luck in your future studies and thank you for your continued support of the Studio School!

CANCELLATION OF CLASSES DUE TO BAD WEATHER:
If the public schools in Greenwich are closed, GAS will also be closed. If school openings are merely delayed, GAS will be open. Check greeenwichschools.org, beginning at 5:15 a.m., or listen to WGCH, 1490 AM.
CANCELLATIONS: If the School cancels a course or workshop, all fees will be refunded. In the event a course or
workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, notice will be given one to three days prior to the course or workshop start
COURSE OR WORKSHOP CHANGES:
The School reserves the right to change its calendar, withdraw or modify courses or workshops, or to use substitute instructors, as needed. Classes or workshops not held due to bad weather or instructor’s absence
will be rescheduled according to studio availability.
REFUNDS FOR COURSES:
The student must notify the Office before the first class meets to receive a refund. No refunds will be given for any reason
after the first class meets. For classes that have begun, GAS may offer a credit (to be used within one year) at our discretion.
PARKING: The Town of Greenwich has new parking provisions. The Board of Education North parking lot across the street from the Arts Center building will have a total of 37 parking spaces and the spaces will be 4 hours. New pay stations have been installed that will allow for easy payment rather than feeding meters. The pay station will provide step- by-step payment directions. We advise students to come to class a bit earlier and first drop off supplies either at the rear or the front of the building. Then, proceed to the parking lot in order to secure a parking space and become familiar with the pay stations.
Please let the GAS office know if you have any questions!
