Director's Note
Welcome to our spring class schedule! We are on the heels of the VERY successful 95thAnnual Members Bendheim Exhibit
juried by Marla Prather, a curator from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I am proud to acknowledge that several of our
members who also happen to be students were juried into this highly competitive show. Congratulations to all of the members
whose works are in this exhibit but those who are students should be gratified to know that the superb quality of their works
has been noticed by the exceptionally trained eye of a professional curator!
One of the central focuses of the school program is to consistently present classes that reinforce the value of training in the
core fundamentals of the visual arts. The real study of the craft and processes in the visual arts is not a flash-in-the-pan,
results-oriented endeavor. As much as all of us desire successful results, the value of learning comes from a true
understanding of the process and making a commitment to that. For as many artistic styles that exist, there are that many
various processes worthy of study. To that end, we continue to offer our diverse program as a basis to the core fundamentals
in drawing, painting, mixed media, and sculpture, upon which to build individual, artistic visions.
See our regular class schedule below and call the office for enrollment.
Classes begin the week of April 9, 2012.
Good luck in your future studies!

theory; use of different surfaces and supports for a painting; discussion of current paint manufacturing
developments; and basic ideas on how to begin a painting. This is a highly technical course, so be prepared to do
numerous exercises in support of the techniques demonstrated.
