As an interdisciplinary artist, Joseph Dermody has always focused on a balanced mix of many different forms of visual and performing arts. He received his Bachelors and Masters of Music Performance from Rhode Island College, Guildhall School of Music in London and Purchase Conservatory, NY.

Joseph currently identifies himself as an Dimensional Expressionist; His love for music, painting, sculpture and structural design have been synergistically cultivated from early childhood and continues to influence his work across disciplines. His classical training, combined with a desire for experimentation has led to an awareness and freedom that allows for a continuous evolution of creativity and artistry. Joseph has received four awards in the past fifteen months for his work including a spot in the NYTimes.

When not painting, Joseph designs and builds furniture in his studio in Upstate New York, professionally plays the violin and viola with local symphonic and chamber ensembles and holds faculty positions in Violin, Viola and Chamber Music at Rye Country Day School, Rye, NY and Concordia College, Bronxville, NY. Most recently, Joseph founded 'SCAPE, uniquely paired concert series where music and art come together to inspire communities and awaken the senses through the combination of living visual artists and live chamber music.

What Bees Sees

Photographs by John Duff

July 7 – October 1, 2015

John Duff is an artist residing in Greenwich, CT. He has been producing fascinating but under the radar work for over a decade. John’s approach to art is all-inclusive, just as his career has been. His talents include painting, photography, and creating music. John’s present project, exhibited here at the Greenwich Hospital, is based a new technique he’s invented by combining photography and pop art, all inspired by nature. This makes his pieces unique and visually stunning. John’s artwork is comprised of one of a kind pieces and he often creates custom work by request when approached by clients with particular subjects in mind.

John has been producing art since he was a young child, which eventually led him to a full time career as a Creative Director & Group Art Supervisor at some of the tri-state area’s most established advertising firms. John is also a musician, a carpenter and a father of two girls.

Approach to work: Always have a camera or pen and paper ready and available. Take the time to capture spontaneous moments. Appreciate simple beauty that is all to frequently overlooked. Live in the moment. Less is more.
